Though we had previously reported that Trader Joe's was intending to cave to a pitiful petition calling on the company to change the "racist" names associated with its ethnic food packaging, we are overjoyed to inform you that Trader Joe's has come out in condemnation of this apparently fake news, indicating that it is not planning to change anything.
Rather than capitulate to the demands of a privileged white girl from northern California who gathered about 4,900 unverified signatures for a petition calling on Trader Joe's to rename everything in its store to be uniformly Caucasian, the company is sticking to its guns and defending its highly revered and principled name.
"A few weeks ago, an online petition was launched calling on us to 'remove racist packaging from [our] products," a statement from Trader Joe's reads. "Following were inaccurate reports that the petition prompted us to take action. We want to be clear: We disagree that any of these labels are racist. We do not make decisions based on petitions."
The statement adds that Trader Joe's makes decisions "based on what customers purchase, as well as the feedback we receive from our customers and Crew Members," adding: "If we feel there is need for change, we do not hesitate to take action."
Similar to how the company handled so-called "Blackout Tuesday" by not putting up a black square on its corporate social media accounts, and instead explaining to its customers and followers that it has always valued all people – no matter their skin color – Trader Joe's is once again silencing the bully mob that is constantly looking for something to cancel.
Trader Joe's has repeatedly indicated that it will not be coerced, pushed around, or threatened into doing the political bidding of the radical extremist groups, and for that the company deserves to be commended many times over, and then some.
This is the model that all corporations would do well to follow, standing on principal rather than the raw emotion of special interest groups pushing a very narrow agenda. More than likely, Trader Joe's will gain even more customers from all of this, even as its kowtowing competitors continue their decline into oblivion.
While we cannot confirm whether or not Trader Joe's issued the seemingly capitulating response to the Change.org petition that we wrote about previously, the company is claiming that it did not. Regardless, we fully support what Trader Joe's has bravely announced now in the aftermath of all this.
It is rather unfortunate that the left is unable to differentiate between appropriation and appreciation of different cultures, the latter being what Trader Joe's aims to do with its lighthearted ethnic food product packaging. It is also rather pathetic that the left still has not learned the true definition of racism, projecting its own racism onto others in illogical, nonsensical ways, this Trader Joe's saga being a case-in-point.
"It seems the good guys are winning now," writes Monica Showalter for American Thinker. "Enjoying another culture is not racism, it's white Karenism, done by wokester teens with absolutely nothing intelligent to say. Glad Trader Joe's woke up and smelled the coffee."
