Those few people in the first group pretty much get away with whatever they want, whether it be rape and sexual assault like former President Bill Clinton, felony mishandling of classified materials like his wife, Hillary Clinton, or lying to Congress and federal investigators like fired FBI Director James Comey and his deputy, Andrew McCabe.
But if you’re someone else — someone who, say, supports President Donald Trump, hated by the deep state like no other — then if you so much as step out of line even a little bit, you’re going down.
Or, in the case of longtime GOP operative Roger Stone, you’re going down a lot. And all based on fabricated evidence.
You may recall that earlier this year Stone was rousted from his Florida home very early one morning by a heavily armed FBI SWAT team. CNN just happened to be in the area to video the incident.
What did Stone do to warrant such a heavy-handed arrest? Why, he fibbed! Didn’t tell the truth in testimony to Congress. Specifically, seven counts of ‘criminal’ activity, as noted by USA Today:
Roger Stone, an ally of President Donald Trump, was found guilty Friday of lying to Congress and obstructing an investigation into Russia to protect Trump and his presidential campaign.
The jury's verdict came after about eight hours of deliberation. Stone, a fixture in GOP politics who worked on campaigns stretching back to Richard Nixon's, now faces the possibility of prison.
He's the latest Trump ally to be found guilty in cases sprouting from a special counsel's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
Understand that there never was any “Russian collusion.” That was a fabrication of the deep state, begun under the Obama regime culminating in “Spygate” as a tool to either prevent Trump from winning the 2016 election or, if he did, undermine him with a soft coup attempt to throw him out of office.
Even Mueller and his merry band of Hillary donors said in his final report filed in March that he couldn’t find any evidence of “Russian collusion,” by why would he? It was a fake narrative, just like the current fake “Ukrainegate” narrative.
“Millions of dollars wasted. Lives ruined, perhaps forever. Fortunes squandered in legal defense fees. A country divided. A political party so filled with vengeance and hate over losing an election they would rather see blood in the streets and American cities burning than allow the winner to govern,” The National Sentinel noted regarding Mueller’s two-year probe.
One of the lives destroyed by Mueller is that of Roger Stone.
But do you know whose lives have not been destroyed? Comey’s life. The Clintons’ lives. McCabe’s life.
In fact, according to USA Features News, McCabe’s potential legal jeopardy for lying to federal agents over his leaks of sensitive information to the media -- the reason he was fired, by the way -- appears to have just…vanished. And we have none other than Trump’s Justice Department to thank for that.
“A court filing by the Justice Department makes it unlikely former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe will be prosecuted after being fired for unauthorized leaks to the media,” the news site reported. “The filing on Wednesday notes that the department will no longer shield documents regarding McCabe from public release.”
When the Justice Department wants information about a suspect held from release because they are currently under investigation, the report said, officials invoke an exception known as 7(A).
But DoJ informed a federal court last week that “it is withdrawing its invocation of Exemption 7(A),” clearing the way for the information to be released.
Because McCabe isn’t going to be prosecuted.
If Americans ever get a belly full of this blatant legal double standard, there will be hell to pay and it will start in the streets of Washington, D.C..
