The NYTimes has a racism and bigotry problem as yet another editor outed for anti-Semitic statements
By JD Heyes // Sep 24, 2019

Continuing its reputation for harboring racism and bigotry against Jewish people, another high-level New York Times employee has been outed for anti-Semitic, disparaging comments made on social media, Breitbart News reports.

And, of course, since they work for a Left-wing rag, naturally the person wasn’t censored or banned.

According to the report, Jazmine Hughes, an associate editor for the New York Times Magazine, made a series of racist, anti-Semitic statements on various social media over a multi-year period of time. Many of the statements came from Hughes’ personal account, which is tied to her Times email, after she was hired by the magazine in April 2015.

Breitbart News noted that the comments continued “well into 2017.”

The site noted further:

Breitbart News has been able to confirm the authenticity of the tweets, which are still visible on Hughes’s page at the time of the publication of this story. While Twitter has not officially verified Hughes’ account, her official New York Times website biography links to the account, confirming it is in fact hers.

Hughes is no lower-level staffer; she is a very high-profile editor. In 2018, Forbes acknowledged her on the magazine’s “30 Under 30” list of the most influential media figures. In addition, the business publication interviewed her in which she showcased herself as a leader in “diverse storytelling,” according to Forbes.

And so on.

Will she be punished for her outrageous statements?

But, it should be said, Hughes is just the latest NYTimes employee to be exposed for making racially offensive, anti-Semetic statements online. Over the past few months the paper has been rocked with multiple scandals involving high-ranking editorial staff making similar statements and engaging in similar disparaging behavior online.

Last month, The Daily Caller reported, the Times was forced to demote an editor for tweets that mocked Jews and Native Americans.

The editor, Tom Wright-Piersanti, apologized to leadership for “his recent serious lapses in judgment.”

“I have deleted tweets from a decade ago that are offensive. I am deeply sorry,” Wright-Piersanti wrote on Twitter; his tweets have since become protected.

In a tweet he wrote on Jan. 1, 2010, “I was going to say ‘Crappy Jew Year,’ but one of my resolutions is to be less anti-Semitic.

So… HAPPY Jew year. You Jews.”

Another tweet dated Dec. 15, 2009, features a picture of a vehicle with what appears to be a Menorah — which is religiously and culturally associated with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah — on its roof.

Wright-Piersanti noted, “Who called the Jew-police?” It isn’t known what he meant by “Jew police,” though some speculated he was just being sarcastic as the Menorah was lit up and it was on the top of the vehicle.

Ironically, outing Wright-Piersanti came about the same time the NYTimes editorial board lectured President Donald Trump about anti-Semitism (never mind that his daughter, Ivanka, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and their children are all Jewish). And who can forget this Times headline: “Are Jared and Ivanka Good for the Jews?

“In the bloody history of modern anti-Semitism, one of the most common justifications for violence is the inflammatory canard that the loyalty of Jewish citizens is suspect,” the paper’s editorial board wrote. “President Trump has repeatedly employed that libel in recent days as part of a verbal assault on the Democratic Party.”

And isn’t it ironic that the worst real anti-Semitism — not the kind finger-pointers like the Times imagine comes from Trump — originates with Left-wing Democrats.

Wright-Piersanti was at least demoted for his bigotry; will Hughes be? Or will the fact that she’s a black woman save her from serious scrutiny? We think we know the answer to those questions.
