Detroit music festival tries to charge white people DOUBLE admission fees
By Ethan Huff // Jul 09, 2019

The organizers of "AfroFuture Fest," a black-centric music festival scheduled to take place on August 3rd in Detroit, Michigan, have decided not to follow through with a racist plan they hatched to charge white people twice as much admission as black people.

After incurring an onslaught of backlash, the social justice warriors (SJWs) in charge of AfroFuture realized that giving black people an "equitable chance at enjoying events in their own community" by charging them $10 to attend the festival, as opposed to the $20 they were planning to charge white people, didn't go over as well as they had hoped.

"Non-persons of color," as AfroFuture's organizers are referring to white people, were going to be expected to fork over double the amount of "persons of color" in order to watch the show, their reasoning being that all white people are inherently "privileged," and thus deserve to pay more than brown and black people to listen to music.

In the "Frequently Asked Questions" section of the AfroFuture website, the festival's organizers claim that the reason they have separate POC (people of color) and NONPOC (white people) tickets is to create "equality" for everyone.

"Equality means treating everyone the same," AfroFuture explains about the reasoning behind charging people with fair skin more to attend the festival than people with darker skin.

"Equality is insuring (sic) everyone has what they need to be successful. Our ticket structure was built to insure (sic) that the most marginalized communities (people of color) are provided with an equitable chance at enjoying events in their own community (black Detroit)."

In other words, "equality," at least according to the organizers of AfroFuture, means charging people unequal amounts in order to attend. However, it remains unclear precisely how AfroFuture was planning to determine which attendees were "white," and which were "people of color," seeing as how ethnic identity isn't necessarily determinable based on skin shade.

Since the ancestors of white people technically came from Africa, isn't everyone "black?"

The whole idea is so blatantly racist that even one of the festival's performers, a biracial rapper by the name of Tiny Jag, reportedly pulled out in protest, demanding that his name be removed from all promotional material for AfroFuture.

"I was immediately enraged just because I am biracial," Jag told local media. "I have family members that would have, under those circumstances, been subjected to something that I would not ever want them to be in ... especially not because of anything that I have going on."

Jag went on to declare the racist idea to be "non-progressive" and "not solution-focused," as it punishes people simply for having the wrong color skin.

"It seems almost like it has spite, and unfortunately with spite comes hate, and that's just not obviously going to be a good direction for us to go if we're looking for positive change," Jag added.

There also would have been some serious legal implications, had AfroFuture actually gone through with charging white people more to attend. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 Title II clearly states that:

"All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, and privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, as defined in this section, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin."

Truth be told, there's actually no such thing as a white person anyway, since we all came from Adam – which means that white people should simply self-identify as "black" whenever they face potential discrimination such as this.
