Regarding the potential for impeachment, the president said he really wasn’t that concerned about it. But should it happen, “people would revolt.”
“It’s hard to impeach somebody who hasn’t done anything wrong and who’s created the greatest economy in the history of our country,” Trump said.
“I’m not concerned, no. I think that the people would revolt if that happened,” he added.
Mind you, if any other president had said something like this it would not have has as much impact.
POTUS Trump is by far ‘the people’s president’ — that is, he has some conservative bona fides but without question, he is a populist. And throughout history, populist leaders, not rank-and-file “establishment” types, are the ones who have led revolutions.
Not only that, but it’s possible POTUS was signaling to his supporters that he may need them to come to his aide at some point not simply to save his presidency but to save the country.
As for working with the new Democrat-controlled House, the president said it’s possible, but that’ll be up to them.
“We’re going to go down one of two tracks,” he said. “We’re either going to start the campaign and they’re going to do presidential harassment, or we’re going to get tremendous amounts of legislation passed working together. There’s not a third track.”
