Back in 2013, then-President Barack Obama delivered a speech in Stockholm, Sweden and made the following statement: “What I can say with confidence is that when it comes to our domestic operations, concerns that people have back home in the United States of America, that we do not surveil the American people or persons within the United States. That there are a lot of checks and balances in place designed to avoid a surveillance state.”
But as Barack Obama demonstrated to the American people time and time again throughout his disastrous presidency, he didn’t care very much about checks and balances – he knew how to talk the talk, but he didn’t know how to walk the walk. Most people will recall, for example, the time when Obama declared that he had a “phone and a pen” that he could use to sign executive orders, despite the fact that America’s system of checks and balances gives the legislative branch the ability to make laws, not the executive branch.
Not surprisingly, Obama’s comment about how these checks and balances prevented him from surveilling the American people was only partially correct. Yes, the constitution prohibits such surveillance, but that didn’t stop the former president from engaging in it nonetheless.

New Strzok/Page text messages prove Obama's involvement
Recently, National Review’s Andrew McCarthy made a shocking discovery about Obama’s involvement in the counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign after an in-depth analysis of text messages sent between FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page around the time that the investigation began. One of the most revealing text messages that McCarthy highlighted indicates that, despite what he said back in 2013 about not surveilling the American people, Barack Obama himself was involved in the anti-Trump spying operation. “And hi. Went well, best we could have expected,” wrote Peter Strzok to Lisa Page in a text message regarding a high-level meeting with CIA officials held on August 5, 2016. “Other than (REDACTED) quote: ‘the White House is running this.’ My answer, ‘well, maybe for you they are.’ And of course, I was planning on telling this guy, thanks for coming, we’ve got an hour, but with Bill (Priestap) there, I‘ve got no control.”
Notably, Bill Priestap was the assistant director of counterintelligence and Strzok’s immediate superior at the FBI.
This text message is damning for Barack Obama, because it implies that he did play an active role in the anti-Trump counterintelligence investigation. It also reveals that he lied back in 2013 when he said that the United States does not surveil the American people. When you look at the entire investigation into Donald Trump as well as the players that were involved and the lengths they went to obtain information, it really is quite shocking. What started off as one big push to discredit and ultimately destroy Trump turned into a giant scandal that exposed the liberals for what they truly are. Donald Trump has posed – and continues to pose – such a huge threat to the progressive movement that those on the left are willing to lie, commit illegal acts, and even collude with the (then) president of the United States in order to take him down.
But even though spygate is on the verge of completely blowing up in the liberals’ face, whether or not anyone will actually be held accountable remains to be seen. People should be going to prison by the time all is said and done, but as we have seen time and time again, those on the left have an uncanny ability to escape the law.
