Special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russians and three Russian firms on charges they allegedly engaged in a low-octane effort to interfere in the 2016 elections — pretty much like Moscow has been attempting to “interfere” in American elections for decades — but all the American Pravda media and their sycophantic allies in the “entertainment” industry could focus on was Trump.
As reported by the Washington Examiner:
After news broke of the indictments last Friday, HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher that night said, “I just want to ask the Trump voters, what is left for you? He’s plainly a traitor who doesn’t defend his own country. This is not a hoax. This really happened … and [the Russians] were trying to get Trump elected.”
New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman said the indictments showed that “President Trump is either totally compromised by the Russians or is a towering fool, or both.”
He also suggested Trump must be “hiding something” and that because he hasn’t reacted with full hostility to Russia’s election meddling his “behavior amounts to a refusal to carry out his oath of office — to protect and defend the Constitution.”
Like columnist Eddie Scarry wrote in the Examiner, “Protect and defend from what?”
Only the divisive Left in America could turn these indictments into a Trump problem, not a problem for President Barack Obama during whose administration these alleged ‘massive infiltrations’ of our democratic processes took place.
Have you heard or read one single establishment media outlet blame Obama for any of this? And yet that’s exactly who should get the blame.
And while we’re on the subject of Obama, a media that was genuinely protective of ordinary Americans instead of a gaggle of Marxist propagandists posing as journalists would be much more curious about all of the scandal surrounding the former administration’s spying on the Trump campaign.
They’d want to know more about how a politicized and weaponized FBI and Justice Department lied when using a bogus “dossier” to obtain a surveillance warrant from the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to spy on a rival political campaign, something that is unheard of in the history of our republic.
To borrow from Maher, that would make Obama “a traitor who doesn’t defend his country” because that, too, “is not a hoax…this really happened.”
But no. Thirteen Russians who abused our system during Obama’s watch are somehow Trump’s fault. (Related: Limbaugh on Mueller indictments of Russians: ‘There’s absolutely NOTHING here!’)
Does that make any sense at all? It doesn’t to rational people. But then again, you’ll never hear me accusing the propagandists in the Pravda media of being rational.
Yet their reaction does help explain how the legacy media views its role in today’s political environment: They’re not journalists whose mission is to fully inform the American people, they’re Marxist activists who see their job as leading the Trump “resistance.”
They still can’t handle the fact that a majority of the country rejected Hillary Clinton, rejected her Alt-Left socialism, and they rejected all of the social engineering and cultural destruction the Democratic Party and its entertainment and media allies push on a daily basis.
As for the Mueller indictments, yes, there is some evidence that Russians posing as Americans organized pro-Trump rallies — and that’s all the insane Left heard or saw.
There is also evidence they organized anti-Trump rallies.
Why do both? Because the objective of any foreign counterintelligence operation aimed at the U.S. would be to disrupt our republican form of government in any way possible; to sow discourse; to cause as much distrust in the system as can be achieved.
And that's been done, hasn’t it?
Is that Trump’s fault or the dishonest Pravda media for continuing to push a massive — what’s that word Maher used -- ‘hoax?’
Answer: It’s not Trump.
