Keep prepping because the Government’s plan to survive nuclear war doesn’t include you
By Jayson Veley // Jun 29, 2017

Needless to say, the United States has changed a lot since we officially declared our independence in 1776. What used to be a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people has become a nation of the government, by the government and for the government. The centralization of the federal bureaucracy and the accumulation of governmental power has created a significant divide between the people and the political elites in Washington D.C. These political elites seem to have developed a mentality that they deserve special privileges that the rest of the American people do not, such as the ability to keep classified information on a private server and not be prosecuted and exemptions from the Affordable Care Act.

But it's not only political privileges that government officials enjoy; it turns out that they also have a plan in place to help them survive some kind of nuclear disaster, and that plan doesn't include you.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported on a secret network of underground bunkers that were built during the Cold War to protect top government officials in the event that a catastrophic event takes place, such as a nuclear war. These bunkers would likely spare the lives of the President of the United States and his closest allies, while millions of innocent Americans would be, in the case of a nuclear strike, incinerated.

In his new book, titled "Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government's Secret Plan to Save Itself," author and national security expert Garrett M. Graff explains that since there's no possible way to save the entire U.S. population, "the government would protect itself and let the rest of us die."

As Graff points out, although presidents like Kennedy, Eisenhower, Roosevelt and Truman told the public that it was entirely possible to survive a nuclear blast, these same presidents and their allies knew full well that they would be able to sit comfortably inside a remote underground bunker while the outside world burns to the ground.

The book explains how "nuclear war would have actually worked -- the nuts and bolts of war plans, communication networks, weapons, and bunkers -- and how imagining and planning for the impact of nuclear war actually change as leaders realized the horrors ahead."

As the Daily Mail notes, governmental elites privately constructed nuclear proof facilities deep inside mountains that would be capable of shielding them after a nuclear strike. Even the toilet seats were equipped with springs so that even when the outside world is physically shaking, they would still be comfortable while going to the bathroom.

But the establishment of secret underground bunkers in remote areas of the country isn't the only example of how the federal government believes that their existence is somehow more important than the lives of we the people. While many politicians in Washington D.C. (though mostly liberal democrats) do not recognize your right to carry a firearm for personal self-defense, they themselves are rarely seen without an army of secret service agents following them everywhere they go -- secret service agents with guns. You're not important enough to benefit from a firearm, but they are.

If nothing else, the belief held by hundreds of political elites in Washington that they are somehow above the rest of us is all the more reason to prepare for societal collapse. We know now that the government's plan for survival doesn't include the people of the United States, so we will be forced to take matters into our own hands. (Related: If you've stopped prepping, it could be the biggest mistake of your life. Here's why.) Be sure to stock up on non-perishable food items, firearms and plenty of ammunition, and it may even be a good idea to create an underground bunker of your own.
