Oblivious NATO chief tells members to stand up to “authoritarian powers” – does this include NATO member nation tyranny?
By Ethan Huff // Apr 11, 2024

In a hilarious moment of pure irony, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg issued a warning about "authoritarian" governments – not the ones in NATO, of course, but those other ones including and allied with Russia and China.

Stoltenberg expressed fear that China, Russia, Iran and North Korea are becoming "more and more aligned" at the very same time the irreparably divided and highly corrupt West is breaking apart at the seams.

In an interview with BBC's "Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg" program, Stoltenberg made the claim that China is propping up Russia's war economy by delivering key parts to the nation's defense industry.

"In return, Moscow is mortgaging its future to Beijing," Stoltenberg continued, adding that he believes Russia is providing Iran and North Korea with the technology needed for producing ammunition and military equipment.

In order to "stand up against this stronger alliance of authoritarian powers" – because everything the West does not like is "authoritarian" – NATO needs to deepen its cooperative ties with nations like Japan and South Korea.

Power shift from West to East

Since Soviet times, Russia has maintained close ties to China, which is convenient as the two countries are right next to one another. They have only deepened their ties, having declared in 2022 at the start of the Ukraine war that their strategic partnership now has "no limits."

China will not blame Russia for the Ukraine conflict, and continues to blame both the United States and NATO of spreading a "Cold War mentality" that is both outdated and incorrect.

China is also calling out the U.S. and NATO for trying to impose their will on the rest of the world like some kind of global police force. Russian President Vladimir Putin added back in February that the West continues to maintain "colonial habits" that are no longer accepted on the world stage.

Iran, meanwhile, admits to having sent a small number of drones to Russia in the leadup to its special military operation in Ukraine. However, the Russian army only uses domestically produced weapons against Kiev's troops, confirmed Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Last December, North Korea also forged a partnership with Russia to increase cooperation, though Kim Jong-un's regime denied sending any rockets or shells to Russia as the U.S. continues to claim.

According to North Korea, the U.S. is "persistently spreading a groundless rumor of arms dealings" between the two countries, a position that is also shared by Moscow.

The current crisis in Ukraine is not the fault of Russia but rather of NATO and its constant expansion efforts across Europe, say Moscow and Beijing. Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun says the U.S. has been targeting Russia and China while "seeking to retain its hegemony around the globe."

Last year, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu warned that "the West is now looking at potentially spreading" the Ukraine conflict to the Asia-Pacific region as well, continuing its seemingly never-ending crusade of colonialism.

"Western bigotry and hypocrisy know no limits," one commenter wrote. "What is the name of the virus that makes ignorance a virtue, and causes the lack of common sense, and hence incompetence?"

"The reasons are probably the usual suspects and corruption, combined with the simple mind of an unimpressive person who's been given too much power and attention."

Another wrote that Western citizens should be "sick and tired of having their tax dollars stolen and their children pushed into fighting wars."
