Trump to push for nationwide concealed carry so that citizens everywhere can defend themselves against violence

President-elect Donald Trump has already announced many of the policies that he will be fighting to have enacted once he takes office in January. While some are more in line with libertarian values than others, many of them are extremely promising and a major step up from policies the Obama administration has been shoving down Americans’ throats for the last eight years.

One of the issues that is most important to the liberty-loving American people is that of the Second Amendment. After years of being worried that our right to bear arms was going to be taken away from us by the fascists that were sure to come with the Hillary Clinton regime, we can all sleep a little easier thanks to Trump taking office.

The president-elect has made it clear that not only is he in support of the Second Amendment, but he also believes that concealed carry is extremely important and should be utilized by the American people.

Donald Trump’s stance on the Second Amendment, according to his website, is that “The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway, That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving – which is a privilege, not a right – then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.” For us libertarians and conservatives who respect the United States Constitution, this is great to hear.

Considering the fact that the past twelve months have been filled with numerous instances of terrorist attacks, the American people need their right to bear arms — especially in public areas where these events have taken place. Between the San Bernardino shooting to the Pulse nightclub massacre, there are plenty of reasons for us to fear radical Islamic extremism. While we all hope that we will never be put in positions where we have to put our concealed carry permits in action and actually use the guns, we have to be logical and accept that one day we may have to do so.

Shying away from the truth helps no one and it is what has led to people like Hillary Clinton trying to take away the gun rights of the people. President Trump will not follow the same path and that is very good news for us all.

There is hope for our country yet.
